About

Born in Glasgow in 1976, James Duncan started his photography career in 2002. He initially took on his first wedding commission as a favour to a friend and in doing so discovered how enjoyable shooting a wedding could be and as such decided that this was the path for him.

By 2008, he had covered quite a few more wedding and had grown frustrated with the traditional, staged wedding pictures that so many other photographers offer. Drawing on his experience to date and going on feedback of his images he was producing, James began to shoot weddings from the position of observer; his images capturing the day as it unfolded, and not in a directed or controlled manner. This move has enabled James to reveal to his clients the joy and happiness that being at a wedding provides, that people come to celebrate and enjoy the day with the happy couple and his work reveals this.

Following on from each wedding, James is always looking for new ways to produce the best possible representation of the day through camera updates as technology improves, and from listening to client feedback.
